State Senator Jerry C. Cirino is disseminating information to assist residents in navigating hazardous winter weather conditions. Governor Mike DeWine has declared a state of emergency for Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, and Lake counties to enhance the allocation of state resources for storm recovery efforts.

"Everyone has felt the effects of this winter storm," stated Cirino. "I am thankful the Governor has decided to declare an emergency in our area so more resources will be utilized to keep Ohioans safe."

The declaration mandates that all state agencies provide their services, supplies, and other necessary resources to support communities in Northeast Ohio.

Since last week, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has been actively engaged in snow removal operations on both state and local roadways using 157 trucks across the four affected counties. Additionally, the Ohio State Highway Patrol has increased its staffing levels to address traffic incidents.

The State of Ohio offers guidance on staying safe during winter weather events, covering topics such as emergency communication systems, snow emergencies, and winter preparedness tips.
