State Senator Jerry Cirino | The Ohio Senate
The Ohio Senate has approved a bill to honor a local Vietnam War hero. Senate Bill 148, sponsored by Senator Jerry C. Cirino of Kirtland, designates a segment of State Route 2 in Lake County as the "Specialist Lloyd Andrew Sellers Memorial Highway."
Senator Cirino stated, "Specialist Sellers gave the last full measure of devotion to his nation in Vietnam. He is memorialized alongside his fellow fallen service members as one of the 58,318 names on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall for the world to see. It is just as important to honor Specialist Sellers locally where he is still dearly missed by his family, friends, and community."
Lloyd Sellers was born in Euclid, Ohio. At age 21, he joined the Army and began his tour on January 28th, 1967. Serving as a Specialist Four with the 9th Infantry Division's A Company, he lost his life during hostile action on June 19th, 1967 in South Vietnam. For his bravery, Sellers received a posthumous Purple Heart.
