David Joyce, a U.S. Congressman representing Ohio’s 14th district since 2013, shared reflections on notable dates of memory and recognition in a series of tweets this past week. Joyce, who was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and currently resides in South Russell, has been active in emphasizing the significance of remembering important historical events and the people involved.

On April 23, 2025, Joyce tweeted "Happy 117th birthday to the @USArmyReserve. Thank you to all the brave men and women who stand ready to serve and protect our nation at a moment’s notice." The U.S. Army Reserve was established on April 23, 1908, and provides trained units and qualified personnel for active duty in time of war or national emergency.

The following day, April 24, 2025, he tweeted about Yom HaShoah, the Holocaust Remembrance Day, stating "On Yom HaShoah, we honor and remember the over 6 million Jews who were murdered during the Holocaust. As we reflect on this day, we must strengthen our commitment to combatting antisemitism in every form. Never again is now." This day is marked to pay tribute to the victims of the Holocaust and to promote efforts to counter antisemitism globally.

Later on the same day, he addressed another event in history with the tweet "Today, we pause to remember the 1.5 million victims murdered during the Armenian Genocide. We must ensure that a tragedy like this is never repeated." The commemoration reflects upon the genocide that began in 1915, drawing attention to the importance of acknowledgment and prevention of such atrocities.

Additional context highlights that David Joyce is currently serving as a U.S. Congressman, having assumed office after former Representative Steve LaTourette. Joyce, aged 66, is a graduate of the University of Dayton and has been part of U.S. Congress since 2013.
