State Senator Jerry Cirino (R-Kirtland) announced that the Ohio Controlling Board has released $1,399,170 for renovations to Lakeland Community College's Engineering Building. These funds are part of the $4,000,000 secured by Cirino in House Bill 687, the capital budget bill from the last General Assembly.
"Lakeland Community College provides a solid foundation for students while looking ahead to what the workforce needs now and in the future," Cirino stated. "The college's ongoing renovations to the Engineering Building will give the next generation a critical edge in their training so they can begin successful careers. I'm proud to support this mission and look forward to seeing the results for Lakeland graduates and area employers."
The renovation project focuses on upgrading industrial labs and classrooms, including the Industrial Skills Training Center for Advanced Manufacturing. The goal is to enhance and implement new programming for students studying advanced manufacturing and applied engineering. The funds released by the Controlling Board will be used for network connectivity, audiovisual equipment, and furnishings for the space.
