Lake County Sheriff's Office Sheriff Frank Leonbruno issued the following announcement on Dec. 24.
There is increasing confidence that significant snowfall will impact the area Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Rain will move into the area Wednesday night and will transition to snow from west to east by early Thursday afternoon. The snow will then transition to primarily lake effect snow, which may continue through early Saturday. The highest snowfall totals are likely across the snowbelt region of NE Ohio and NW PA, where the most persistent lake effect snow is expected.
Winter Storm WARNING issued December 23rd by the National Weather Service at 2:54pm.
* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 14 inches. Localized higher amounts possible. Greatest totals expected along and near the lakeshore. *
WHERE...Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula Inland and Ashtabula Lakeshore counties. *
WHEN...From 1 PM Thursday to 7 AM EST Saturday. *
