COLUMBUS—The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Parks and Watercraft recently awarded the Lake County Sheriff’s Office a Marine Patrol Assistance Grant, announced State Representative Jamie Callender (R-Concord).

The grant, totaling $29,934.21, aims to support the operation and maintenance of the local Marine Patrol, which plays a crucial role in overseeing the waters of Lake Erie within Lake County. Home to estuaries, harbors, and 31 miles of Lake Erie shorelines, Lake County's marine activities are set to benefit from this financial boost.

“As warmer weather approaches, this funding will ensure families that call Lake County home and visitors alike are able to safely enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, and the overall beauty our county has to offer,” expressed State Representative Jamie Callender, highlighting the positive impact the grant will have on the community.

The Marine Patrol Assistance Grant program, funded by Ohio’s recreational boaters through the Waterways Safety Fund, underscores the commitment to promoting safety and enjoyment on the state's waterways.
